Hall of Fame

The Louisiana Weightlifting Hall of Fame was created to pay tribute and give the highest recognition to former athletes, coaches, administrators, and others who, by direct participation have made exceptional contributions to the sport of weightlifting and/or powerlifting.

To be selected, the candidate’s athletic achievements and contribution to these sports must have been widely recognized as enhancing the reputation of the sports as well as of himself/herself. The Louisiana Weightlifting Hall of Fame Committee shall be responsible for the selection of inductees for membership in this Hall of Fame.

A nominee becomes eligible for nomination to the Hall of Fame five (5) years following the graduation of his or her college class. The nominee need not be living to be inducted. It is helpful that the nominee earned a varsity letter by placing on a conference or national championship team and served as a positive ambassador for the sports. Desirable qualifications include individual national champion, scoring points for a national championship team, All-America recognition, world, national, state or conference record setter, All-Region or All Conference selection, scholar-athlete achievement and amateur athletic achievements outside of the college setting, such as an Olympic participant.
